132 Families Are Suing Roblox Over Child Sexual Abuse Cases
Roblox was built for children. 132 families are now suing over gr*oming, ab*se, and r*pe cases

132 families are suing Roblox in federal court over allegations their children were sexually exploited, groomed, or abused through the gaming platform.
The platform has 39.7 million daily users under age 13.
Roblox was designed as a children's gaming platform where kids build virtual worlds and play games together.
More than 40% of its users are preteens, and Bloomberg reported the platform has become a hunting ground for predators who use the chat features to target children.
Police Arrests Across Multiple States
Since 2018, police have arrested at least two dozen people accused of abducting or abusing victims they met or groomed using Roblox.
Shane Patrick Penczak, a 45-year-old from North Port, Florida, was sentenced to 13 years after meeting a 13-year-old boy on Roblox and receiving hundreds of sexual photos and videos from the child.
A 29-year-old was caught with 175 hours of video footage of him grooming and engaging in explicit behavior with 150 minors using Roblox.
Predator Networks Using the Platform
A joint investigation in 2024 exposed a predator network called "764" that used Roblox and Discord to push children into creating sexual, violent, and self-harm content.
The FBI describes 764 as promoting neo-Nazi and satanic ideologies while actively recruiting minors and encouraging them to engage in self-harm, animal abuse, and suicide.
The group was eventually linked to grooming, sextortion, suicide, and murder.
Families Fighting Legal Battles
In January 2026, parents of a Washington child filed a lawsuit alleging their 12-year-old daughter was exploited by someone she met on Roblox who sent her sexually explicit images and pressured her to do the same.
The exploitation led to multiple suicide attempts.
Over 800 parents from various states sent a letter to Roblox's board demanding the company stop forcing child sexual exploitation lawsuits into private arbitration.
Attorneys are investigating thousands of additional claims involving alleged grooming and sexual abuse.
Company's Own Reports
In June 2025, Roblox admitted it submitted 1,200 reports of potential child exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in just the first half of 2025.
The state of Iowa sued Roblox in January 2026, alleging the platform was deceptively marketed as safe for children while failing to implement basic safeguards.
That's 1,200 reports in six months from a platform designed for children.
