84-Year-Old Florida Man Sh*ots Son in Face Over Visit Frequency

William Nowak, 84, allegedly shot his son in the face because he felt the family wasn't visiting enough.

The family had been visiting weekly.

Police responded to Nowak's Palm Bay residence shortly after 7:30 p.m. on December 9 following a 911 call reporting a man had been shot.

Nowak had been caring alone for his 85-year-old wife in hospice care and their 62-year-old daughter with disabilities.

The Confrontation

During the visit, Nowak told his son, "Get out of my house or I'm going to shoot you."

He retrieved a handgun and fired one shot in the kitchen.

The son's wife pleaded with Nowak to put the weapon down, but he ignored her.

The Aftermath

Officers found Nowak distraught and confused, repeatedly asking "What just happened?" while crying.

The bullet fragmented into multiple pieces that remain lodged in the victim's face and jaw with no exit wound.

Nowak was charged with attempted m*rder and taken to Brevard County Jail Complex.

Legal Proceedings

A judge appointed Nowak a public defender and ordered him held without bond during his December 11 court appearance.

His arraignment is scheduled for January 8.
