Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Pregnant Girlfriend Who Refused Abortion
Man m*rders his 18-year-old girlfriend after she refuses to have an abortion

When investigators processed the scene at Coastline Park in Sanford, Florida, they found two things near Kaylin Fiengo's body: a bullet casing and an ultrasound image. She had been shot in the head while sitting in the driver's seat of her Nissan Versa. She was 18 years old, near the end of her first trimester, and had already been raising a 1-year-old son at home. The ultrasound was of the baby she had chosen to keep.
That detail — the ultrasound left at the scene — is what investigators say tells the full story of Donovan L. Faison's intent. This was not a sudden act. The evidence suggests he knew exactly what he was ending that night.
How It Started: Two Positive Tests and One Text
Kaylin had sent Faison a photo of two positive pregnancy tests. His response, according to prosecutors, was immediate and unambiguous: "Abortion!!!" Faison purchased Plan B and pressed her to take it. She declined. When it became clear she was not going to terminate the pregnancy, he continued pushing through text messages. Prosecutors say he was living with another woman at the time who suspected him of being unfaithful, and he felt the pregnancy would expose him. In one text, he wrote: "On my brother's grave, I'm gonna crop her out."
When she still refused, he arranged a meeting.
The Night at Coastline Park
Faison lured Fiengo to Coastline Park under the guise of meeting up. Sanford Police responded to the area that night and found her in her car, dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. She was still in the driver's seat. The ultrasound image was found at the scene alongside a bullet casing.
Faison was not immediately arrested. It took investigators approximately ten months before he was taken into custody. He was arrested in August 2023, nearly a year after Kaylin's death in November 2022.
The Trial, the Jury, and the Sentence
Faison was convicted on three counts: first-degree murder with a firearm, killing an unborn child, and burglary with a firearm. During the sentencing phase, the jury voted 11-1 to recommend the death penalty. One juror dissented. Ten agreed he should die for what he did. The twelfth made it eleven.
Kaylin's mother, Sarah Schweickert, addressed the court. "No words can capture the depth of pain that comes with losing your daughter to murder," she said. "Every day I wake up and face a world that no longer has her smile, her laughter, her hugs. The grief never leaves — it sits in my chest like a weight that will never go away."
Her aunt, Tatiana Fiengo, was present when the sentence was handed down. "We've been waiting a long time for this," she said. "It doesn't bring her back, but at least he's not out hurting other people."
Circuit Judge Donna Goerner sentenced Donovan L. Faison to death in Sanford. He was convicted of murdering Kaylin Fiengo and their unborn son because she chose to keep her baby.
Kaylin left behind her 1-year-old son, who was at home the night she drove to that park and never came back.
