Swedish Girl and Four Brothers Hanged Taxi Driver After Police Ignored Rape Report

A 15-year-old Swedish girl and four teenage brothers lured a 26-year-old taxi driver into the woods near Uppsala and hanged him after police dismissed her rape report as "too vague."

The murder was revenge for an alleged rape that police had refused to investigate properly.

The Ignored Report

The girl had reported the taxi driver for rape in February 2022, but Uppsala police set the case aside.

Police called her report "very vague" and gave it low priority due to the city's high caseload.

The report only referred to the man by a nickname, had no witnesses, and described an incident from months earlier.

Planning the Murder

Police discovered the teenagers discussing their plan in a group chat the day before the killing .

"They are going to meet my rapist. THIHIHI," the girl wrote to friends.

The boys had bought rope, masking tape and clothes in preparation.

On March 24, they lured the driver to the woods outside Uppsala where they hanged him.

The Discovery

The man's body was found hanging from a tree near Uppsala.

His taxi was discovered two days later, covered in snow with the meter still running.

Legal Consequences

The eldest brother, 18 at the time, received a life sentence.

The four other brothers, all minors during the murder, were sentenced to 3-4 years in youth detention.

The girl and her boyfriend were convicted of aiding and abetting murder, but were not present at the scene.

Andreas Pallinder, head of Uppsala police investigations, later admitted his force should have taken the rape report seriously: "If you take it to its extreme, theoretically we could have prevented a murder."
