Woman Charged With Murder After Stabbing Boyfriend Over Dinner Plans

On the ride to the police station, after her boyfriend had been rushed to the hospital with a stab wound to the chest, Mikayla Kloth told officers she should have just gone to the bar, and that the whole thing was irritating. Lukas Rosch, 25, was pronounced dead that night.

Kloth, 27, is now charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Waukesha County Circuit Court. She faces life in prison if convicted.

What Happened That Night

Kloth and Rosch had been dating for about three years. They did not live together, but Rosch frequently visited her Wisconsin Avenue apartment in the Village of Lac La Belle. According to the criminal complaint, the two exchanged text messages that day about him coming over with dinner, which Kloth said she did not want. She wanted to go out.

Rosch arrived at the apartment with chicken drumsticks and seasoning. He planned to cook them in her air fryer. That change of plans led to an argument, and the complaint states that Rosch began "pushing her buttons."

At some point, Kloth stabbed him in the chest. When police asked whether there had been a struggle between the two of them, Kloth's answer was direct: "No, I did stab him."

Rosch was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A Warning That Went Unheeded

The night of the stabbing was not the first sign of danger in the relationship. Investigators said that a week before his death, Rosch told someone that Kloth had bitten his thumb and that he was worried about his safety. Prosecutors confirmed that he had expressed fear for his safety to another person in the days leading up to his death.

That detail now sits alongside everything else his family is left to process. His father stood before the court and said, "I stand before you a shattered man. A shattered husband. A shattered father."

Who Lukas Rosch Was

To his family, Lukas Rosch was a loving son and brother, a devoted dog dad, and someone his nieces and nephews called a special uncle. He was 25 years old. The people who knew him are now navigating the particular grief of a loss that did not have to happen.

Where the Case Stands

Kloth appeared in Waukesha County Circuit Court, where a cash bond was set at $2 million. A hearing and a preliminary hearing have been scheduled. The charge of first-degree intentional homicide carries a mandatory life sentence in Wisconsin if she is convicted.
